Tabarie Henry breaks the 45 second barrier in the 400 meters!
The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation announced today that V.I. National Record holder, Tabarie Henry ran 44.77 in the 400 meters at the National Junior College Track and Field Championships this weekend. His time sets a new V.I. National Record and places him the top 5 in the world for the event. Henry help lead Barton Community College to second place in the National Championships.
The performance is the first for a runner in V.I. history to go under 45 seconds in the race. It places him position to win a medal for the upcoming championships including: the Central America and Caribbean Championships in Havana, Cuba; the Caribbean Games in Trinidad and the IAAF World Championships where he will run against the likes of Olympic Champion Lashawn Meritt and Jeremy Warner IAAF world champion.
